How long will the vacuum pump oil last to replace the new oil?
1. Vacuum oil filter pump oil change cycle:
In the operating instructions of the pump, it clearly indicates the standard oil exchange cycle under normal operating conditions (clean air is removed under low pressure), please pay attention to the inquiry. The following is only an example, subject to the instructions.
TRIVAC bipolar rotary vane pump:
First oil change: 100 hours (first oil change completely eliminates running-in residue)
Successive oil change: 2000-3000 hours or annually
SOGEVAC unipolar rotary vane pump:
First oil change: 150 hours
Successive oil change: 1000-2000 hours or every 6 months
E&DK spool pump:
First oil change: 250 hours (pump and gearbox)
Successive oil change: 1000 hours (gear box), the pump oil change cycle largely depends on the process, because the sliding valve pump usually works in dirty and harsh environment.
Vacuum oil filter Roots pump:
First oil change: 500 hours
Successive oil change: 3000 hours or every year
Please note that under some operating conditions, the actual oil change cycle may not be consistent with the operating instructions. For example, to remove contaminated or special gases, or to operate at high inlet pressure or high inlet temperature, please determine the oil change frequency according to your specific working conditions.
The doubts about whether 1000 hours oil exchange is too short can be simply explained by comparing the following data.
Take SV200 as an example, 1000 hours oil change, if continuous operation, about 6 weeks.
During 1000 hours of operation, the spindle of SV200 will glide 54000 km and the exhaust valve switch 270*106 times.
The cycle of oil change is usually 5000 kilometers, and the average speed is 50 kilometers per hour. The car only runs for 100 hours.
By properly and correctly using accessories (such as dust filters, oil filters, etc.) from the original factory, the oil exchange period can be prolonged accordingly.
Welcome to contact us to select the appropriate configuration for your process/application.
If the pump has been idle for more than a year, it must be maintained in a standard way and oil must be changed before the pump is put into operation again.
2. Change the oil according to the actual situation:
In actual process, the state of oil can be judged according to the method described below, and whether oil need to be changed or not can be judged. However, it should be noted that each analysis method alone can only provide part of the information of a good nature.
2.1 Appearance
Vacuum oil filter pump oil should be clean and transparent, the new oil presents a colorless to light brown. Usually, if the color becomes darker and darker, it indicates that the pump oil has been polluted or oxidized and needs to be replaced. If the pump oil is dark or emulsified in a short time, water may condense in the oil.
But it can't be judged that the performance of the pump oil has not changed by the fact that the color has not changed.
2.2 Odor
The new oil has a mild odor and mineral oil has a slightly stronger odor than synthetic oil. If the oil is contaminated or reacts, the odor will change dramatically and oil needs to be replaced.
2.3 Viscosity
Viscosity is the standard for measuring the internal friction of liquids. For the pump, the pump oil with suitable viscosity can support the formation of the optimum thickness of oil film in the pump, and ensure the optimum oil circulation, sealing and lubrication effect and heat exchange effect. Therefore, in application, the viscosity of pump oil must be within a reasonable range.
Viscosity usually varies with temperature and decreases with temperature, i.e. thinner.
Viscosity changes are usually caused by the following factors:
2.3.1 Oil Aging (Increased Viscosity)
2.3.2 Mixed with Foreign Substances (Viscosity Increased or Decreased)
2.3.3 Oil reacts with process medium (viscosity increases or decreases)
2.3.4 Oil with polymer additives (reduced viscosity)
When the viscosity of vacuum oil filter changes more than 20%, oil should be changed.
